What happens for children?

Crèche is for baby and toddlers. We have a specially built play area towards the back of the church with lots of toys, crafts and books.  Parents are welcome to sit there, to leave their children there whilst sitting near by or to sit with children in the main congregation.  We enjoy the sound of children and are happy for them to move freely around the church.  If you need to step out to settle a child, please feel free to use the cafe-area, entrance corridor or to go through to the hall and take whatever toys you’d like with you!

Micro Mags is for preschool aged children.  We share a story from the Bible, have a prayer, think about the Bible story together and play with some toys or on the soft play.

Mini Mags is for primary school aged children from Reception to Year 5.  We talk about things that are important to us, have a prayer together, hear a story from the Bible and usually do a craft, activity or a game to help us think about what we are learning from the Bible.

When do they start and finish?

Micro Mags and Mini Mags start in the service at 10.30am and then after 10-15minutes in the congregation, following a special prayer, they go out for their activities to the hall or enclosed garden.  When there is Communion (on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month), they return to their families to participate in that part of the service together.  On the 3rd Sunday of the month they return during the notices towards the end of the service and sometimes share something they have made with the whole congregation.

Who are the leaders?

Our leaders love Jesus and love children!

They receive regular training in children’s ministry and safeguarding matters. They all have been DBS checked.

Parents of newcomers to Micro Mags and Mini Mags are asked to complete a simple consent and information form for the period of time they are in a different room from their parents.  If you have any queries or concerns, please contact one of the leaders or Anna Price, who oversees the Micro and Mini Mags teams.

Can parents go with the children to Mini-Mags?

Parents are very welcome to go to either group with their children to help settle them in and see what goes on there.  Kindly note that children are the responsibility of their parents before and after the groups go out for their specific activities.

Can children stay in the service?

Children are very welcome to stay in the service with their parents.  There are toys, books and colouring towards the back - please help yourself and feel free to use the tables or be in a pew.  We enjoy the sound of children and are happy for them to move around freely in the church.  If you feel you need to step out to settle a child, please feel free to use the entrance corridor or cafe until you’re ready to return - or take them through to the hall.

What happens after the service?

There is squash and biscuits available for children during ‘coffee time’.  Children are free to play in the Meeting Room, use the table football and air-hockey, play in the hall and garden - this is often a great time for them to have fun together in the building.  Please note that during this time they are responsibility of their parents, not the Micro or Mini Mags leaders.

Where are the toilets and baby-changing facilities?

There are unisex toilets and baby-change facilities off the main entrance corridor and also off the hall.
