The loss of a loved one is always a sad experience and we aim to make funerals as helpful and supportive as possible.

Funerals can be conducted by the Vicar in church, at the crematorium or at the cemetery, or many people choose to use the church for the main part of the service, followed by the final committal at the crematorium or cemetery.

A church funeral allows a little more time to enable relatives and friends to begin their mourning and for an expression of thanksgiving for the life of the deceased.

The first step in booking a funeral is usually to ring your local funeral director, who will contact the Vicar for you. The Vicar will always visit before a funeral, to offer help and support and to discuss details of the service.

You can also find general information about funerals in the Church of England and suggestions for funeral hymns and the most usual funeral readings.
