Our main service begins at 10.30am, but free refreshments are available from 10.15am (and again after the service).

What’s it like?

Our services are relaxed and informal; come as you are!

We are usually led by our vicar, Matthew, or other members of the team. We sing a mix of modern songs and old favourites and our music is provided by a music group. Each week we hear the Bible read and then listen to a talk which helps us understand the reading and makes connections between it and daily life. Twice a month we celebrate communion. Sometimes we say words together - everything you need is projected onto a large screen. Our services last between 1 hour and 1 hour and 15 mins. There is a collection plate at the back of church - we don’t pass a bag around. We actively encourage our regular members to contribute financially, but not our visitors.

Please feel free to join in with as much as you would like or just to sit and listen.

Children, youth and babies

Children are welcome to stay with their parents in the main service. There are toys and books available and we love to hear them enjoying themselves and hope that they will make themselves at home! Nursing mums are welcome to breast-feed during the service.

However, children normally begin in the main service, before being invited to go out to Micro-Mags (for pre-schoolers) and Mini-Mags (our group for ages 4-10) for games, craft and discussion. Youth (age 11-18) have their own group, called Hot Choc Elders, and they leave the service after the reading.

All our volunteers are DBS checked and familiar with our safeguarding procedures.

Disabilities/Special Needs

There are ramps throughout the church, including to the communion rail. There is a newly refurbished fully-accessible toilet off the entrance all to the church.

There are dropped curbs from the road around Magdalen Square and usually lots of parking outside of the church on the road.

There are hearing loops in each of the spaces in the church building and church hall. Select “T” on your hearing aid to access this.

We particularly seek to welcome those with disabilities and special needs, including dementia, ASD and ADHD. Please do let us know if there are particular ways in which we could support you or your family. Please don’t worry about any “unusual” behaviour!
