Rev Matthew Price -
Vicar
Matthew has been at St Mary Magdalene since January 2018. He is married to Anna and they have three children, Barney, Charlotte and Rosie. Matthew has enjoyed getting to know the Magdalen community and loves being part of it! He enjoys cooking and recreational running to counteract the effects of the cooking.
REV KARL ROSS - ASSISTANT CURATE
Karl is our Curate at St Mary Magdalene. He leads and preaches on a Sunday and midweek amongst other things. Karl loves music and especially playing his guitar. He is a big fan of his boyhood club Newcastle United.
Nick Hewitt - Church Warden
Nick is one of the Church Wardens at St Mary Magdalene and sees his job as helping things to run smoothly and properly. Nick became a Christian in 2000 at the age of 48 and was originally baptised at Gorleston Baptist Church. He moved to St Mary Magdalene and was confirmed in 2014. Nick loves being a member of the church and working with the vicar Matthew. His wife, Rachel, is also a member of St Mary Magdalene and they celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary in 2019.
Janet Upton -
Church Warden
Janet is one of our Church Wardens. She grew up on The Magdalen Estate and is a teacher at a local primary school. Janet spent many years growing up at St Andrew's church Gorleston where she was baptised and confirmed and now attends St Mary Magdalene with her husband, Chris, and his two children.
Mary Ives - Lay Minister
After a busy working life, Mary decided to retire and do something else. So, she trained as a Lay Minister in the Church of England. She is married to Robin and they have four grown up children, together with seven grandchildren, whose ages range from 15 to 2. Mary tries hard to keep herself fit, swimming and taking part in fitness classes. Her other love is music, and she enjoys playing keyboard instruments, as well as singing and playing the guitar.
Hazel Thackray - Authorised worship assistant
Hazel Thackray is an Authorised Worship Assistant at St. Mary Magdalene which means she helps to lead services. Hazel has been a member of St Mary Magdalene for about 14 years and is also part of the Music Group which she thinks greatly enhances the worship.
Hazel believes St. Mary Magdalene is one of the most caring churches she has ever been in!
Sue Loades - Community Link and Anna Chaplin
Sue works as our Community Link and Anna Chaplin at St Mary Magdalene enabling local people to access support and advice on various subjects. Sue loves helping people take control over their own lives by running our Foodbank and supporting The Bridge ministry. Sue enjoys reading, cooking and walking her two dogs.
Gosia Rockall - Operations coordinator
Gosia works as our Operations Coordinator giving practical and administrative support to our ministries and community based initiatives. Gosia became a Christian in 2020 and loves working at St Mary Magdalene helping people using her practical and organisational skills. Gosia enjoys traveling and long walks in the beautiful Suffolk countryside alongside her husband Luke.
